The Paniki

Where did the Filipino belief about the giant brown "Paniki" moth come from? I have always heard that Filipinos believe when you see this moth it means financial increase is on the way. I was walking to my site yesterday and I swear to you, I saw the largest brown moth I have ever seen in my life. It must have had a 10 inch wingspan! At first I went to cover my headlamp because I actually thought it was a bat.

I'm just curious about why Filipinos have this belief, the origin of it. Thanks
