Went back to Piper Alabama with great anticipation and was a little disappointed. A quick refresher about Piper is it was a mining town from 1901 to 1950 and today it is nothing but woodlands. A trip to Piper and back for this old man is a long hard trip, the terrain is ruff. Well I dug a lot of stuff, just not much good stuff. It is safe to say that if I had kept every piece of a cast iron stove I dug up I could have built a whole stove. Also dug up a lot of misc. metal that was used in house construction. The only good stuff I got was a bent 1 mill Louisiana Welfare tax token, 3 zinc ball lids and the bottom of a scale weight, no coins. I guess the real world is always a little different than what you dream it to be.
