The Postmaster's Bag of Silver!!!!!!!!!

guys I've been blessed with a new hunting site and a story. I got written consent to hunt on an old 1890-1910 house here in Russell County. Its complicated though. Turns out it was my Dad's Great,Great, Uncle's house. This man use to be the postmaster for the area way back when. My dad told me when he was a child and his family walked to visit this man's family my Dad and the other children would play all around. Dad said that one of that guys families kids was all the time sneaking a small bag of silver dollars belonging to the old man sneak them outside to play with under the trees!!!!!! How great would that be.........Just wish that I was a more experienced hunter, but oh-well maybe I will be by the time I get done with this site!!!!!!
I found my very first Buffalo nickle on the site today, along with '39-'46 wheat's five of them to be exact. Also found a button looking thing not quite sure what it is,any help appreciated. If anyone is close to Russell County, Ky pm me and I'll take you with me next time. thanks as always guys....

Re: Postmaster's House

Sounds like a perfect detecting spot. Good luck on finding some silver goodies. ;D

Re: Postmaster's House

Sounds like an awesome spot. No experience necessary if you dig 'em all. Especially the ones that show up as dollars!! GL!!!

Re: Postmaster's House

Wow, nice story and some nice finds. it'd go back and hit that site as much as they will let you.

May I make a suggestion, use the Macro on your camera, it's the setting that has a tulip in it. By using it, you will be able to get really nice close ups using this setting. Also try scanning the coins. Scanning them also works pretty well.

Good Luck on your next hunt, Ringfinder

P.S. Don't worry, if you get a signal that is a Silver Dollar, you will know it. Many, Many guys have never dug a silver dollar, so experience is not a key here, you just have to be in the right spot at the right time.

I dug up my third one this year, actually Jan. 11, 2007 and it took me 23 years to find 3 of them.

Re: Postmaster's House

Thanks I scaned them and helped alot. Couldn't find the flower option on my camera though. Thanks for all the advice, keep it coming guys....birdy1976

Re: The Postmaster's Bag of Silver!!!!!!!!!

Well since you don't have much experience you better just let me hunt it for you :D Sounds like an excellent site and you are already making some great finds. Just take it slow listen for those lovely faint targets and HIT EVERY SQUARE INCH!! LOL I look forward to seeing what comes from the site. Good luck, Daniel

Re: The Postmaster's Bag of Silver!!!!!!!!!

The "button looking thing" is hard to make out. Does it have something written around the center hole? It looks like a tarp grommet to me. Just guessing. Silver dollars might sound too good to be true, dig everything to be sure.

Very nice when you find a nickel (especially a buffalo nickel) because it means you are dialed in properly for GOLD! Keep hunting that site and let us know what else you find there, please. Congrats.
