Hot & humid day but the ground was still wet underneath. We spent 4 hours finishing gridding the area of the field that the Gold Ring came from. Whilst doing this a neighbour walking his dog quizzed us a bit. We don't talk about any of the good finds, for obvious reasons, but it soon became clear why he was asking. He had a small grass field next door & his son has an ace 250. Doesn't sound like they found much but we said we would give it a quick go to give our opinion. We only spent 20 minutes on the field & the finds are the ones on the GREEN background. As a 17th C spur buckle came up from a shallow depth Dad will be advising them its worth them gridding. He's dropping the stuff off shortly. (they can keep it all)
We finished the day doing a quick scout on 2 new fields & rounding off the hunt to 5 hours;
2 Complete Crotal Bells
17th C Lead Powder Flask Lid (English CW period)
Tudor Book Clasp
Tudor Button
17th C Knife piece
Spec. Buckle
2 Silver Sixpences
Lizzy I Hammered Halfgroat 1590-92 - Still keeping it alive.
