This post includes Cru'dads 1.5 hour scouting mission yesterday where by he got 6 scrappies.
Today we went to this Roman Site we have no name for yet (nothing really stands out), & detected some pretty nice conditions. The oil-seed rape stalks had just been disced in. It's not the deep plough we need but its good enough for now.
It's now mostly small stuff left after years of gridding.
6 hours;

Livery Button (type I need)
Northampton Yeomanry Button
Lead Medieval Button
Roman Lead Steelyard Weight
Lead Token
1/2 a Rose Farthing
2 tatty Jettons
Medieval Buckle
Roman Nail Cleaner
TINY Roman Fibula
19th C Coin Weight
15 Roman Coins (plus 6 from yesterday) - 1 nice album example - Crispus
2 Hammered; Shortcross cut quarter, & a Charles I Penny

The hammered coins were not expected, as we have only ever had 3 from the whole field. So nearly doubled our total in 1 day!:laughing7: I think the XP GMP is starting to pay off.

Wow Cru. Another good day of detecting. Some real nice finds. Congrats

I like the patina on the Crispus , the squareish hole in the Charles I - really adds character !

Those ancient coins are just amazing.

Nice!!!! Congrats!!!!!

Yes, its an unusual patina that I like as well.

Very nice hunt-

Fantastic! Incredible how you always find so much. You must be running out of room.:notworthy:

@Gene Mean - I'll always find room for my finds but I may need some more storage drawers soon.

Awesome finds. Last night the National Geographic channel had an episode of the Terry Herbert discovery. It was the first I've watched it. I so enjoy seeing your finds and wonder when your gonna match something like what Terry uncovered? Do you say a little chant like Terry Herbert did before he was lead by the spirits of old to the gold?

I think it would be near impossible to match that. What they don't say is the 3.3m is grossly under valued, as the market value for it would be closer to 15m in my opinion.

That's a tiny fibula for sure! Never seen one so small! :icon_thumright:
