The largest treasure hoard ever found in the United States was discovered by accident. While walking their dog, a man and his wife saw a piece of metal sticking out of the ground.

After some scraping with a stick, they unearthed this metal can containing 170 gold pieces. More digging and seven cans later, their trove was worth ten million dollars.

Where did it come from? Was it stolen loot from a stagecoach or bank? Was it buried by a rich but eccentric miser who didn't trust banks?

Can they keep it all? Can they keep ANY of it?

And why did they wait a year to report it?

Listen to the story at In the Corner with Dan Hughes.

The lawyers will end up with most of it. And so it goes... Dan there are a ton of threads on here about this find with just as many differing opinions. It's my opinion that the end result is yet to be seen and it may be several years before it comes to a conclusion.

Do a Tnet search There has to be at least 5 threads running on the topic

It is funny how a hoard can be found by accident without a metal detector, by someone who is not even looking for a hoard, lol. I feel so cheated and lame.
