Out this morning with Mayo for a few. Hit the old shooting gallery in the woods. Former amusement park. Got tired of those old .22 shorts but there's still more to clean up. Got about 30 today.
At the edge of the old stand (no evidence of the old stand itself except for shells and the old '20's wheaties I dug there long ago with bullet holes in them) I was surprised by a good dime signal down 4 or 5 inches under a few shells. Two inch root over the coin made me root around a bit but was -happy to unearth a fine old shiny. 1857-O seated dime! Sweeeet!
After the celebratory twinkie we hit the woods again and I found this copper strip, two rounded ends, maybe a hanger bar from days of old? Then a tent grommet and a cap with an image of a painter on it and finally a lead sinker that upon closer inspection seems to be a minie ball pounded into a sliding sinker.
Okay, it wasn't the last thing I got. The last thing I got was the 1902 barber dime just about 10 feet away from there. Spring is in ther air!
