"The Silver Mine" 11-13-06

I had the day off for the Holiday...I decided to hit "The Silver Mine" one more time before the white stuff falls..

I had made some program changes to my DFX the night before..And it turned out very well..

I'm about 10 acres into "The Silver Mine" with 206 acres more to go..

A few highlights...Of todays finds..

The Merc is the 2nd one I found this month with a hole in it..(and the only one's I have ever found)

The Half was a bonus..The DFX screamed at 10" inches..

The Star with the "I" is from Cuba 1946...(don't know the value of the coin)

The Charm is from MARTYR'S SHRINE, Midland, Ontario

The "V" Nickle was down 5" inches in solid clay... The DFX said Nickle....I was thinking War Nickle...

And the Golden (tin) Reader's Digest Token reads " $167,000 for 30 years "

The Quarters are starting to show up....

Really great day of digs. Great finds. Lots of land to cover and a long way to go eh? But with those results seems like a good investment. Good job. Sounds like a pretty good detector you have as well.

Great find, glad you got out before the snow flies, looks like we might get some snow this week, darn it. You better get out yet tomorrow, cause it's gonna get cold up here in Ohio.

Thanks again for the great pictures, I like all your finds.

Great variety of finds! That V Nickel is the best I think I have seen posted here. Super find. Other stuff is neat too. I love finding those odd coins and medals.

Great finds. The pics are super

Re: "The Silver Mine" 11-13-06

Thanks Guys...

I gave the Nickel, A quick tumble and the baking soda treatment. It wasn't bad at all being locked in clay.

The ground has been good to some and ugly to others. The wheats are really ugly. And I have been looking for a
good cleaning method for thoes. I have been using Hot Peroxide dips..But it's too slow...

I clean all my Silver, Unless it is a key date or an odd coin.

The "Silver Mine" is 50% packed dry ground, It's been great for shallow finds.. But the other 50% is very soft
And not so nice to coins....

Nice finds. The Readers Digest token is really cool. I love off the wall finds like that. I like silver too. Not sure if I like gold yet or not, cuz, I haven't found any. I am 95% positive I would like it though. Hope ya find a gold one out there!! Needles have been known to hide in haystacks!!!

Re: "The Silver Mine" 11-13-06

Nice Finds. The Cuban coin is probably a 1 Centavo, I found one in Florida this past June, 1946, but with a V in the star and an elderly Cuban gentleman identified it as a five centavo, said it brought back fond memories of the old Cuba so I gave it to him. I always like finding foregin coins, makes me speculate on how they arrived here.
