google metal detecting holidays. there is a bunch of places that set it all up for you. other than that its up to knowing someone or randomly wandering around asking for permissions.

I've been contemplating trying one out for a couple years now. Problem is that it is not cheap lol. Otherwise I would just go and see how it was.
