Got out for a couple hours to the cavalry camp I’ve been hunting for several years. Just when I think I’m finished there, I get into a new spot that produces. Found 11 bullets, camp lead, an underwear button a knapsack piece and this sword hanger. First one of these I’ve ever dug.

Nice!!! Congrats!!!

Sweet relic hunt, congrats! :occasion14:

Fullstock, can you tell me what that metal thing is, shaped like a spool for thread? I just found one about four days ago and am unsure what it is or what it's for. It's made of copper.

That hanger is sweet I would love to hunt a spot like that I would dig everything. Well done. Happy new year. Tommy

It’s actually brass Villival, it’s a keeper (I guess that’s a good name for it) and it’s used to attach the straps on a Civil War knapsack.

with big brass like the hanger still being found it's not dug out for sure.
in my book that was a good hunt.

Nice job, that's the way to keep a spot productive.

Thanks so much Fullstock. I also found a very old bullet on my property. This area DOES have ties to some civil war action. Your reply gives me hope I may find more things.

Sounds like you’re in a good spot Villival, I bet there are some good relics there, just waiting for you to dig them! [emoji16]

Very nice. What a cool piece of land and history to have permission to!
