This thebes is in decent shape, 2 3/8inches long x 1 3/4 inches wide at its widest. A small break on one barb.
The base is well ground, and the blade has the distinctive left hand bevel.
This thebes is from southern Indiana and was obtained along with the Big Sandy from a friend whose father in law found them in the 60's.

Very nice. That one may be complete, though. Looks like the left notch got out of control during manufacture and took the left barb off??

No it is old damage. The break does not show well in the image, maybe the color washed out due to lighting.

Its still a very nice relic. From the base size and form, I believe this was a large knife before being reworked over time down to the current size.

Thebes are one of first broad flat knives to show up during the early archaic. I've found several but only one nice big one here in Cent. IL. This one from Aug. 1987. Gary
