Yesterday produced a second hammered silver half groat. This one being a little later in date. There's a clear crown mint mark, at 12 o' clock on the obverse. This dates the coin to Edward IV First reign, Light coinage 1464-70. The coin was minted at Canterbury, (CIVITAS CAN TOR). The other cut quarter hammered silver coin, is a voided long cross, Henry III, 1247-72. Not really sure what the little copper item is yet, but almost certainly medieval. Robert.

Nice finds Robert! Thanks for sharing...

For an Ed IV, its in great condition. I have a sort spot for halfgroats. When I first started detecting with a Viking 7M years ago, I got a Ed III halfgroat that won coin of the month in the days that I was part of a Club. I like the double circle effect, of 2 lines of text.

Wow, another beautiful find, congratulations! :notworthy:

Awesome coin !!! I'll be heading out to England in a few weeks, hope I find some hammered. Congrats and HH

Rob,

That's a sweet looking half groat in great shape.

Regards + HH

True Cru, groats and half groats, look great.

That's a really nice coin.
Hard to believe the excellent condition.
Congratulations

So if you put two half groats together do you get a full groat?

Love your old coins. Another fantastic example of a wonderful hunt. Thanks for posting things we can only see on here.
