That was my conclusion from my metal detector days back in the mid-70s. I spent $350 on a White Discriminator... something that looked like it came out of the 1950s. Heavy sucker. The best thing it ever found was my little sister's friend found a class ring that belonged to my friend Greg. He lost it back in 1969 when it flew off his hand when we were in the pool. So hey... that was lost for 6 years and found in minutes. That was embarrassing... my sister's friend was about 13-14.
I'd get old topo maps from the 1890s to find old lost homesteads that were then in places like state forests here in MA.... or an old marble quarry in Westfield Mass... home of Westfield Green... a black and green marble that ended up in the lobby of the Empire State building. I did find a silver broach in an old dump. But that White metal detector never did pay for itself.
But there IS rust in them thar hills and plenty of it!!!! And so that should also be the slogan for Curse Of Oak Island.
