Re: Thimble tip?

It looks a lot like a button to me

Found this today at a hunted out site and when I first saw the star I thought I had a Texas button. However, on closer inspection I don't think it is. Could it be the tip to a thimble?
Yes thimble top, I found one smashed but complete and the star was slightly smaller. I'll post a pic if I can find it. :icon_thumright:

Thanks DM,
I just don't think it is a button. I wish it was one though. I have never found a confederate button in over 35 years of hunting!

I read somewhere on the net that a star on the top of the thimble indicates it was made by a German company. There were a number of companies that used the star mark (i.e., Gabler, Wengert, Eber, and others)

:dontknow:

Thanks FP, That will give me a place to start. It had me doing a happy dance for a minute though! ;D
