I am thinking of getting an Equinox when waterproof headsets are avabile. I hunt with an Excal and would like to be able to recover small gold also. Just how good is the Equinox on small gold if just searching the surf for any find? How deep on fine gold chain or gold stud earring?

No one can say how deep yet, Equinox has just been released. I did a test on a tiny gold chain in the sand buried 3-4 inches and it had no problem seeing it, seen videos of chains at the beach at 4"s in wet sand no problem seeing it there and even detected it laying in the salt water.

The small gold chains have always been a PITA for beach, water hunters and land hunters. If the field tests from ‘real’ (not paid shills) users show that the Equinox does indeed locate gold chains I am buying an Equinox as well.

Air tests, beach test plots in dry and wet do not convince me.

Cheers

It does see thin gold chains, I have tested it buried in the ground, was not at the beach but it had no problem seeing a very thin gold chain.

Already been done, sorry you missed your chance to order.

Just ordered the Equinox 800. Which program picked up the thin gold chains at the beach when tested?
