Hey all,

I was thinking of getting a new detector. I currently hunt with a tesoro cibola and feel like I would like just something "different". I have a budget of around 500 (family comes first, of course) and can't afford much more right now. I am looking at a bounty hunter land ranger pro. I want something with the numerical readout which I think is pretty cool. Would that BH be better , worse, or no change from my tesoro? Any input is appreciated!!

Look for a used White DFX .. should be no more than $375-$400 and best anything new under $800

Hello erbdigger,

I like "airscapes" advice. The DFX is a fairly high end machine that you can grow into. I use mine in conjunction with the V3i, lots of fun! Both of these machines let you tweak just about every setting on the machine and they do have a learning curve, but worth the effort. If you decide to purchase the DFX, then obtain a copy of "digging Deeper with the DFX" this will assist the learning curve and is a good read.

Regards,

Doc

Personally I like the the kota forcore metal detector its performance is great and about the same the price range

Thanks for the input everyone. I will consider it but I would like my original question answered, if anyone has an idea of if its an upgrade or not. Dfx is an option

No.
Save a few more bucks and buy an ATPro.
You won't be disappointed.

Peace ✌

Thank you. Lol.

MX-5 is another machine to look at. If you don't won't to snorkel it would be my choice over an ATP any day. It has very good 8 tone audio, good unmasking in heavy iron in 2 tone, a true all metal mode, backlight, standby, automatic ground tracking, much better balance and a background threshold.

Skip the bounty hunter and look at the Nokta Fors CoRe. It is in your price range and lot more bang for your buck...

ill throw out two more possibilities, although they are priced just above your price range...

Minelab X-Terra 705 and the Makro Racer. Great machines with a lot of bang for the buck!
