I managed to get out for about thirty minutes saturday to the site of an old ferry crossing to a Third Seminole War fort on the other side of the river.

I only found a rivet, and what I think is an old curb bit. The rivet is larger than one I have from Ft. Brooke, but is the same width. The one from Ft. Brooke has some leather in it, so I think the one from the ferry crossing was also for leather as opposed to canvas, etc.

The best thing I got was some shots of what's left of the old, military, wagon road. It's erroded pretty deep in some spots.

well just getting out and looking over and thinking of what happened there, or who traveled past, etc is great!! finding stuff is a plus...GD

I hear ya!

It's kind of "spiritual" for me to be at these places. I've been researching the Seminole Wars for about 27 years! I have over 45 books on the subject, plus 20 cd's full of research including topo maps, old survey maps, and newspaper clippings.

I love it!

wow!!! looking forward to seeing more from ya...love florida, lots of history..gregg
