I made both these finds only several feet apart but on 2 different hunt's. I found the button a couple days after the 2 cent piece and someone else in another forum thought it might be civil war era but it could be possibly older maybe. The guy on the forum said he recalls seeing the same button in a book once but couldn't remember the details about it. Any of you button collectors seen it before? I'm not looking to sell it, I don't sell any of my coin or relic finds, maybe someday but not today.

Well it is possible it is from the CW Era but it would be hard to prove. The two cent piece is in
very good shape, and if you look at the date it is 1 year after the CW.But,still that don't mean
anything.Congrats on your find VERY NICE

Just wondering what you used to clean the 2 cent piece. Did you dip it?

Thanks,

Daryl

I heated up some peroxide put it in it till it stopped bubbling and did again with the coin flipped over then cleaned with a toothbrush and dish soap.
