Today in my back yard. I found an old looking stamp on the side it says JAPAN and on the other side it say HI-STOP. I also found a 1950
wheat penny. and a rock that might be a metorite. I found it 8 inches in the ground and my pro pointer goes off by it. what do any of you think? Tropickandie.webp

The one thing is a bicycle brake I think.

Did you try a magnet on the rock? That I agree is a bicycle brake. Don't hold me to it, but I think a meteorite is magnetic? I was going to say coal but it looks too shiny. It's always fun trying to figure out what I find in the ground, good work, keep digging and good luck.

Coal will go off on my detectors...will even shut them down sometimes..but usually the pinpointer will not go off on them...but the odd time it will.

That blue is just the picture. I took the picture with my kindle fire hd. Maybe that is a brake I though it was a stamp. I read that you have to use a strong magnet and I don't have one.

Some coal is actually shiny. I have detected it too....it's odd, huh?

I got coal once before. It was after a rain but don't know if that effected the detector picking it up. I hunted that spot before in dry weather and never picked it up but I just may have missed it.

You got out and had fun! Congrats!

Maybe that's what all the hot rock signals are on my detector, coal!

When I first started detecting my first meteorite turned out to be coal. It's around allot of the old houses, it used to heat allot of homes.

I hate finding cool rocks, i always think i will research them and find out what they are and it always end with me putting it in a box with other rocks and i never pick it up again :D
Break Pads for a bike i think too.

I saw an evening news report when I lived in Carlsbad, Ca. about a guy who talked down someone asking 20 bucks for a "rock" in a rock shop in Cali to 5 bucks. That "rock" was a precious stone worth HUNDREDS of thousands of dollars. I hope the poor shmuck at the rock shop who was asking the 20 dollars for it didn't go jump off a bridge somewhere! You NEVER know what you might find, and it never hurts to ask someone more knowledgeable than yourself!

could be copper or iron ore, ive found a copper ore rock, it has a green tint to it.
