fertilized soils and copper coins don't mix

Well made it out the other day with hunthicks hoping for a 62nd regiment button but wasn't meant to be. The day started off with rain but quickly turned to perfect detecting weather except for those pesky mosquitoes... Detected for about an hour when the farmer came storming down through the fields in his truck...great I think to myself, he changed his mind and wanted us off the property....NOPE he brought us coffee! Yup a large Java from Robin's Donuts, never had that happen before, then hunthicks gives him an old cross that he found moments before...I then pass over a tractor piece that he had lost...He was as happy as we were... I have some more items to give him, next trip out...
Now with our crappy soil... Crusty ole American 1838 LC, 1919 Can LC and a 1832 1/2 penny token from NS. The 1900 dog tag was neat find...The Daisy Flour pin came up with the marked trigger guard (arrows) so I assume it's pretty old... I also thought the 2 livery buttons were cool...thanks for looking

You'll catch some 62s next time!

Wow I wish the farmers we know would bring us out some coffees some time, what a treat

That's one old dog tag. can't say I've ever seen one older

You turned up a pretty good mix of finds, those are some pretty neat buttons! I really like the one with the hunter on it. I had a buckle and blobs kinda day, 7.5 buckles and lots of brass and lead blobs. Still lots of potential there! Especially in that bottom corner, if a coin turns up in that sandy soil it'll be perfect haha. And that top spot seems to be a slow down and pick out the buttons area.
I thought the same thing when the farmer came down through the field, guess we need to find a new site. Coffee was a surprise but a better alternative haha. I might throw up my post when I get a chance, not much other than the cross and what might be a baseball button.

Nice finds (and anything you pull out of the ground lives on) The Patriot. Thanks for sharing...

you got some really nice finds. I think the dog tag is the winner of the bunch.

Great hunt, Patriot! Wicked selection of finds there. And the coffee bit, you can't beat that.

I know that feel on the soil... Torture.

I hate the fields that use liquid fertilizer - even worse
but still looks like a good day - WTG!

That's awesome...coffee delivered! That trigger guard is cool!

Yeah, Sounds weird, farmer come a running...what would you expect...Not coffee, and doughnuts. (laughing)
Neat find that daisy floweryery thing. I met a real cool farmer lately, the story is just too cool to tell. Well I will after the facts.

Great weather for 2 weeks to come good luck out there guys.

Rick
