I remembered this place from driving by it on a job a year or more back, found it on Google Maps and I am thinking about hitting it tomorrow. I figured on just working the perimeter and seeing what looks obvious (trails, clearings in the vicinity), and working till someone kicks me out or I find a jar full of gold coins. I didn't see any houses nearby, and there doesn't appear to be any "no trespassing" signs posted on the trees nearby. The little structure appears to be on the easement, the power lines run almost directly overhead and it's feet from the road.

Looks like an old Railroad switch house. In the forground, what is the straight dark brown or grey area? Looks like maybe an old rail line that was removed......nge

I have no idea, I do look forward to finding out though.

ware dark glasses and wave your detector like you blind

Just because there's no "no trespassing" signs doesn't mean it's ok to detect. Show some respect for private property.

Your contribution to the thread has been noted, thank you.

Easement or not, someone owns the property.
The power lines will be the main issue. I can't get near power lines w any detector I own. Frequency shifts included. I purchased an EMI filter for my F-70. It helps, but never fully overcomes interference from power lines. Good luck.
Peace

if you really want to know who owns it, do a google search for
X county gis map, might get lucky and X county will have one
once you know who owns it, you might find out what it was used for
HH gold coins

AAAWWW, is that ever cute!! You found a wee little "Fairy House". Nice pic!

Well, I went today, bubkas. It was surrounded by various metal junk and the detector was going off constantly. I dug a couple of pieces of trash and called it quits. Lots of booze bottles, dumped trash and other not so fun stuff. The ground was all roots as well, the few holes I dug were with an old AK bayo I carry in my dig arsenal. Scary little structure as well. I am pretty hardy when it comes to the willies, but it was a spooky nonetheless.

Disappointing, as was the next stop (Bethany Beach). I hope I don't have the "new detector curse" (I bought a GT Thursday and haven't found a thing since). Tomorrow is a new day, think I'll hit the Pier at low tide.
