This one's a head scratcher!

Any ideas? About 7"x 2.5" The chain was tangled in with it. Made of brass I think.

Looks like your dimensions are off. If that's 2.5" wide, then it's looks longer than 7". Anyhow, it reminds me of a band on a coal oil lamp where the globe nested into.

You're right. It is actually in two pieces and I gave the dimensions of the first piece. Sorry about that. Thank you for the reply. I'll look into that
