Mumszie, in one of the posts today, you commented that you wanted to see all the junk.....so here tis.... Hunted a swim beach at our local lake today and got a grand total of $.06. It's only 2.5 miles from the house so fuel wasn't an issue. No parking fees either so all I had invested was my time. I just bought an older White's Eagle II from a Florida pawnshop through e-bay. The swim beach is a great area to learn what the machine is telling me. So far, I'm impressed in that it correctly identifies most targets and the pinpointing is dead on. In the 4 years I've lived here, I've only seen 1 other MDer. Today I had the pleasure of meeting a great older couple (my age) both detecting the same beach. We had a nice visit and I stayed out of their way. They were scoring the same junk as I was. The bottom line is like you, I found not much but had a great time! Your attitude is contagous and I thank you for that......

I have to agree with you on that point, she gives it her best shot, day after day and still continues to hunt. never gives up. It is not always about what you find but the pleasure you receive from it. As many of us that have this bug know you can't wait until the next time you get out, knowing fully well that you will find more junk than treasure. But that is what is so great about our hobby never knowing what you will pull out of the ground next.

Good things always come to people who don't give up and pursue their dreams, yours is soon to happen Mumszie.

Didn't mean to derail your thread......

No derail there Bill, right on the mark!

Ahhhhh shucks guys. I just think it's a shame that people only show the good stuff. We all find junk. Some more than others but it is really misleading to show only the good stuff. It tends to discourage people when all they find is junk hunt after hunt. I like to "see" that others are finding the same junk I find and then VIOLA! They find something really special.

So BRING ON THE JUNK!

We all find junk and lots of it and if anyone says they don't then they are either lying or in la-la land LOL...

Well Half-Speed, you seem to find the same junk I find. There must be an epedemic of it.... ;D

It's funny in Florida where I hunt, there's a big sign about no alcohol, but yet I and others have no problem with finding new beer caps....I know, beer isn't alcohol :tard:

Have you started working on your property yet???

Good morning JP. Same signs posted here too. Pull tabs and Bud Lite caps everywhere. Can't read or don't care...hmmmm. I normally wouldn't have wasted a post on that hunt but Mumszie needed a junk fix.. ;D

Just started hunting our property with the Whites Eagle II I just bought from e-bay. The area I'm hunting is loaded with old steel beer can tops opened with the old church keys. The Whites thinks they are dollars. I'm still learning the machine so haven't tuned it yet. I just ordered a small sniper coil for the Ace 250 to see if it will do a little better peeking through the junk. If that don't work, I do have a tractor and a plow.........

I have a personal collection of bobbie pins that number at least a thousand that I have collected since I started water detecting last year. Those, and gold, are my Tiger Shark's favorite thing to find . But alas, the bobbie pins outnumber the gold by about 100 to 1. I know other hunters are leaving them in the water but they rust into sharp little spikes that can easily stab tender or not so tender tootsies, so I patiently pull them out whenever the TS finds one, which is very often. Bobbie pin picking becomes a relaxing, meditation kind of thing and I can get into the variations of them that exist - large, black, small silver, etc. Also I strive for multiples, two or more stuck together for excitement.

I feel left out.  I haven't found a bobby pin ever.  :icon_scratch:

I hope I don't run into a hole next time out water hunting full of bobby pins....I just jinxed myself

Half-Speed, good afternoon, the tractor and a sifter might be the key.  I don't know if I could handle that of trying to dig out all the iron first so I could get to the goodies....good luck.

Hunted two lakes today, for a total of three hours. Got 2 clad quarters, a penny, and only half a bobbie pin. Sigh.

Thank you - Thank you THANK YOU ALL. Now I feel much better. It really gets depressing to see only diamond rings, gold chains and platinium jewelry and I am finding pull tabs and bottle caps! I LIKE to see the junk pictures too!

Susan.... I'm still waiting on a picture of you hunting to go with the bobby pins!

Come on gng's.... I need pictures for the next slide show.... I'm gonna make you all STARS! ::)
Send them to me at mumszie@tampabay.rr.com and don't forget to include your T-net name for me!
