How do you know it weighs at least a 1000 pounds, how did you get it on the cart?

It is valued anywhere between .25 cents a pound to $10.00 0ound depending on the quality and color. I have one I found that weighs about 300 lbs, it sits in my front yard.

These guys (Rare Earth Gallery) sell a ton (pun) of petrified wood out of Cave Creek, AZ.

I disagree with Treasure_Hunter on possible value. Range, depending on quality, is between $0.00 and, in rare circumstances, $20 per pound. Most that I come across, if decent quality, would sell $2.00-$5.00. If full of fractures and dull, grey color, I would have to be paid to take it away. We each have our opinions, tastes, and experience on this, however.

My estimate comes from the link I posted, in reality, it is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it.

im sorry. thats not 1000 pounds. i work with 1000+ pound rotors for pumps daily. no way that wood is 1000 pounds.

It's not a chunk of wood. The cells of the wood have been replaced and filled with silica. It is now a VERY dense rock, that replicates the log. The nice specimen could easily weigh a half ton. If you have ever worked with bagged pre-mix concrete, how many 80 pound bags would make a pile, the same size as the log? I estimate 15 +/-. That's 1200 pounds. Petrified wood would weigh at least as much.

As for value, I agree, not that rare. If you happen to find upon looking inside, that it's opalized, or fantastic in some other way, or it's a very rare specie, then maybe...Keep your day job. Good luck.
