Headed back out to the park area I had a good day at and two firsts for me including a 1972 Eisenhower Dollar, and a Lady's Gold Ring (posted in Today's Finds). Rounding the end of a perimeter fence I get a signal. As I dig and move the dirt away, I'm like there is no way. I can't possibly keep having this unusual streak of luck.
As I live in a very historical town, I figured this could be a possibility. Anyway, The target appeared to be a Confederate Munition such as a grape shot or projectile of some sort.
Sent my wife a picture from my phone and explained what I thought it might be but, wasn't gonna swear to it and make an ass out of myself.
It even appeared to have what looked like where the wick, etc might be.

After getting it home and getting it cleaned up, it ends up being some kind of big shifter/controller knob.

Ya gotta love metal detecting. We always have that moment of anticipation right below the surface of the soil.
