Well there was a lot of hustle and bustle in the city today. Traffic was a little tough with people loading up at an uptown Spaghetti Dinner in preparation for The NYC Marathon tomorrow. It's Halloween and a lot of people were travelling downtown to get a good spot along The Greenwich Village Halloween Parade route. There was also loads of traffic heading out to CitiField for "The World Series" pre-game tailgating parties. What normally takes about 20 minutes to get to the park I wanted to hunt, turned into an hour of stop and go traffic.
I started swinging the coil at 3 p.m. and didn't stop until 6. It was a really pleasant and bountiful hunt. My third target was a 1919 Mercury Dime. Boy, is she pretty. The soil was like soft butter when cutting a plug. The rain we got on Wednesday and Thursday really got to soak in. The park was empty, and the weather was nice and cool. When it was time to pack it up,, I had a little over 60 coins in the pouch.
When I got back to my apartment, I had to be quiet while cleaning and taking pictures of my finds. The Trick or Treat'ers were ringing my doorbell .
They were looking for candy but I ate it all,, lol.
My finds for the day were: 12q, 20d, 9n, 19 memorial pennies, 3 Wheat Pennies, ( 45, 46, & 55), a 1919 Mercury Dime, a 1980 Canadian Penny and a few pieces of brass.
My Silver Coin Total for 2015 is now at 142 Coins.
