Hello! I have dug up these three metal objects near the remains of an old farmhouse, and I'm curious to know more about what they are.

If you look at the photos, you can see that there are notches placed alternately on the funnel-shaped object. When digging, I found many of these funnels stacked together. I originally assumed they were for food preparation, but why so many?

The other two objects, I really have no idea what they are or are from. If you have any suggestions, that would be great!

Two of these pieces go together..one is a wheel hub and the other is a outer flange that would have attached to the hub. I have put the two together so you could see what it might have looked like.

The other piece resembles a Gag loop...

I think the wheel hub is correct, but I have doubts about the funnel-shaped item being connected to it. It seems too thin to have supported carriage wheels, and there were others exactly like it stacked together. It has a bit of a brass color to it underneath the rust. Pieces of plates and bottles were found near it.

The gag loop is a good idea. Were they used with horse carriage equipment at all?

I am curious as to whether it is a gag loop or not, as it appears to be constructed out of twisted wire. The thought crossed my mind as well, but it just seemed too light to serve the purpose.

...I agree, and figured something must have been "off" as you didnt ID it:icon_thumleft:

I agree with the identification of the cone. It matches some photos I managed to find, as well as others that people have dug up. Is there a specific name for these?

Perhaps this is a homemade gag loop? I haven't found anything similar in my research yet... It never fully connects in the center. It feels strong, but it does appear to be thinner than other gag loops I've seen and much more simplistic.

Of course... :tongue3: I should have thought of that!

Weird question but how did you do that? Photoshop?
