Hi all, Long-weekend, so we decided to go for a drive to the desert looking for miner camps. In 1850 many miners refused to pay a port tax at the ports nearest the gold rush. Many landed at small ports some 600 miles away and walked across the desert. There were 1000,s of them. We headed for the the local river just before the ranges on the edge of the desert. looked for signs of old camp sites. Only a few hours in i had found afew english black bottles but not much else. Afternoon thunderstorms rolled in, quite heavy rain. Along the edge of the river were some old farm sheds so we had a bit of a look around. nothing really old but some interesting old blow -torches , old oil can and motor tin . Had fun and the car got washed

Interesting relics, that big blow torch is one serious bit of kit. Wonder what they were using these for, Singeing pigs maybe? Whatever it was, they had to be making some profit out of it. Hoped those floods would have washed out some more nuggets for you. Good Luck, Nuggy
