I've been hunting this property on and off for a few years, trying to find some evidence to support the written history that Washington stopped at this place with the troops during the French and Indian War... I found the occasional small musket ball and an odd flat button here and there, but nothing too substantial to support the claim. Well after last Sunday evening and today's hunt I'm starting to think that we found it.
According to the property owner, the site has been hit hard in the past- but its never totally hunted out! Got to love those 70 cal musket balls!
Although its toast I'm fairly sure that the coin is a KGII, my brother in law dug one that is identifiable (barely) and its the same size, thickness and weight. He also dug a few more of those musket balls, as did my buddy FortBedfordBob.
Thanks for looking!
