Hi beach guys after a year my scoop is lookin pretty ragged It's a galvanized 40 inch scoop with the steel wire bottom I like the design for my purposes but need something just a tad stronger for the few times I'm at the high tide line and digging that wet sand. Looking at the scoopsunlimited.com models because of the stainless construction basket and wire.Anyone using them? I like the fast sifting the wire mesh provides so would like to buy something similar that's less than 4 pounds. I've also just went from an ace 350 to the vaquero so hopefully I'll be digging deeper : ) Any recommendations ? Thanks Jim

For me I don't think it would hold up. 16 gague seems too flimsey digging in the water. Plus if you are in the water and put you foot on the back of the scoop to push it into the sand, I am not sure the wire scoop basket would hold up. I use a much heavier SS scoop without wire basket, just holes, and with that the welds broke within the first year and I had to weld supports onto it to reinforce it. unless you don't plan to do much digging or you are going to be very gentle with the scoop I don't think it will hold up. Good luck in your search. Papa
