I saw the purchase price of a Rydale as enough of an obstacle that I ... built my own sorter from ...

It was time consuming for me, but not difficult ...

I suggest that if a group of 3-4 like minded CRH'ers all felt that way, they could coordinate a 1-2wk rotation on a community Rydale. Spend 2-3 weeks gathering fodder, 1-2 weeks feeding the beast, and 2-3 weeks dumping and gathering. Then repeat.

The entrepeneur in me LOVES this idea!!! I don't see why it couldnt work.

Shipping costs way too high... Or same state/city only?

If I wasnt a silver nut I'd take you up. If anyone from AZ has one, I'd rent it from you for 2 weeks and give you $75.00 or somthing. Would have to crunch the numbers,,,

:hello:

I'd be interested in doing this in Central Iowa, Eastern Iowa, Western Illinois, SW Wisconsin, and Southern MN.

Got a Ryedale that I'm willing to timeshare. I'm having a hard time getting enough pennies to run through it.

Located in Southern California. LMK. Maybe we can just work out a rental deal versus timeshare as well.

i like the idea but i see some problems with it. as a ryedale owner myself i can say from experience that the machine must be kept clean and properly lubbed for it to work. also the wheel and tray must be replaced because these parts wear out after a certain amount of time and use. kind of like the break pads on a car. also depending on how clean it is kept contributes to the amount of time these parts will last. i have also run in to problems at times with dirty and sticky coins which will cause the machine to jam and will wear down these parts really fast. many people put pennies in their cupholders and ashtrays and the coins become dirty and sugar coated etc. these coins are a nightmare. shipping the machine back and forth will become expensive too. another thought--if you and another guy live close together and want to share a machine it will most certainly decrease your copper finds if you are hunting in the same area. may also cause problems with dumping in the same area too.
if anyone does try it i would love to know how it works out.

That idea reminds me of a Johnny Cash song. I built it one piece at a time.............................................

How is it that you have a hard time finding pennies to run through it? Can't you just order them from your local bank?
