I had a few hours to kill today before I had to head home, so I decided to go to a spot that a buddy and I have hunted to death over the last few years. We usually end up pulling some flat buttons and old brass out of the ground, but it's been a few years since something really great has been found here. I was actually on my first pass through the field, about 20 minutes into my hunt, when I got a nice but choppy signal. It was slightly broken, but was reading in the mid 70s on the Garrett AT Pro. Once I dug the hole, the signal got much better. I picked up a small clump of dirt and waved it over the coil and was greeted with a nice high tone. I looked and saw the reeded rim of a tiny silver coin staring at me! It was hard to stop myself from pulling the coin from it's dirt cocoon, but I restrained myself and got out my camera to film the exciting moment. As I removed the dirt, I could see enough detail to identify the coin as a Seated Liberty. I was sure it had to be a Half Dime. Sure enough, that's exactly what it was! It's from 1853! I believe this makes Half Dime number 6 for me. I've only had the AT Pro for a little over a month, and it has surpassed my expectations! Thanks for looking and HH!

Congrats on the half dime and the in situ pictures. Yea it make's you wonder sometimes how you can pull something that small from a field.

Great find. I got an 1854 hd like that last year. What a great day that was. A 92 on the AT pro was the signal. Keep lookin and you may get more coins. Best of luck. Great work.

Nice find! I laughed, when watching the video and you added a bit of spit! Good clean up job!

Congrats on a great coin. You just cant beat hunting the fields.

Great Seated!! I'm still in search of my first Seated anything, and just yesterday I was almost positive I had dug one myself..as I was hunting 3 early 1800 home sites in the woods and when I popped my plug, I saw small silver...and given the time frame, I was SURE it had to be Seated..if not Capped..but twas not to be. This was the first time I was ever disappointed to dig a Mercury dime lol...congrats on the Seated! Ddf

Thanks everyone! I am very happy to have pulled that one out of this particular field. Supposedly there was a blacksmith shop on that spot, and we have found a lot of relics from the 1820s to the 1860s there. Here is the other seated silver that was found in that field.

Good going on the half dime after 20+ years of detecting managed my first one last summer.....mind you I'm in Canada so not the easiest coin to find in my area.

Small little things aren't they.
