Today was freezing but I had to get my fix. I dug a bunch of junk and then when the sun was just setting when I got a decent signal so I dug my plug and had to use my pinpointer as the target was off to the side of the hole. I had the dirt in my hand and when I broke the last small clump open I saw this tiny little beauty. This is my first 3 cent piece so I was pretty darn excited. The date is a little hard to see in the picture but it's an 1857.
I had seen a fellow out in the same park today with his machine but he only lasted about 10 minutes digging junk in the cold. Perseverance pays.

Keep digging; you never know what's in the next hole.

I love those scales. Must have been one of the hardest US coins to keep in your pocket back in the day.:icon_thumleft:

Very nice find, it's on my coins to find list also.

Awesome find. They are indeed very tiny coins. I've only dug one so far myself.
Congrats to you.
