TMAN and GOIO's snowy adventure

Well Greg and I decided that we could manage the snow and wind and cold to go hunt today. I got everything loaded except me and my coffee when I decided to fall down my stairs coming out of my 5th wheel. I am red black and blue from just below my shoulder blade to my butt but its all good for the hobby. lol. We went to a new spot that wasnt available so we meandered around for about an hour and found a spot we could get to. Snow sux. We walked around and it was tooooo clean. I have never hunted somewhere that was so clean that you could run in all metal and still not get a tone. I kept checking my etrac. lol. Any ways I ended up with a clad penny, a clad dime, a 191? Merc and a Manoil toy car. That thing was huge. Greg got something too. I am sure he will post later. After coming home I ate and took a well deserved nap. lol. Now where is that Advil? TMAN...

Re: TMAN and GOIO's snowy adventure

Man you guys are hardcore!!! In the early morning when I saw it was starting to snow, I thought "there is no way anybody is gonna be out today". Glad you got another silver to boost your year end total!!! That sux that you fell tough, hope its not too bad. Sit back, warm up and heal up!!!

Re: TMAN and GOIO's snowy adventure

Hey Tman,

It was good getting out for a short hunt today. it was weird hunting that spot with no target even hunting in all metal!! :icon_scratch: Congrats on your 191x merc  I picked up a Rosie, a Quarter, a couple of pennies and a car key.

Sorry I didn't go with you guys.I didn't feel 2 well today sneezing every 20-30 seconds,so I had 2 decline.........LOL........Sorry I did now.....,but knowing my history hunting with you guys.....I would have been the 1 to find the clad while u 2 find the shiny goodies...LOL.............Hopefully soon we'll get a 40* day.
Sorry about your Boo Boo Tman....But your a pretty tough Texan, and I know you won't let it keep you from any further hunts (If there is any till March)
Way 2 go you two...........Hard Core "All The Way "

Re: TMAN and GOIO's snowy adventure

Looks like you guys had a great time! (minus the fall Tman... that sux, hope you feel better!)

Also looks like Greg got some new headphones... how are you likin' those Rats? I just got mine today, they fit PERFECTLY! I can't wait to get some sweet tones flowin' through them.

Sweet snow finds guys! Hopefully we can hook up on a hunt soon.

Re: TMAN and GOIO's snowy adventure

Re: TMAN and GOIO's snowy adventure

I love it!!! Its my first avi and will stay until March I am sure. I was looking back on my log and I hunted January 6th and found some clad but didnt hunt again until March 15th. Looks like woods hunting is in store this winter. McEtrac and I are gonna hit a park this afternoon for a little bit. Hope the ground isnt frozen too deep. Hopefully Greg will wake up and call us before noon. LOL. SMAN...

Re: TMAN and GOIO's snowy adventure

lol @ snowmanfromtx & the avatar. I've found that in the last three years, we've had that really nice warm spell late December-early January. I was metal detecting the beach in 65 degree weather on New Year's Day 2007. Of course, I didn't find much, as not too many people swim in January. But I got out and it was a lot of fun. If the same happens this year, I'm heading out to the woods, any one of you guys are invited!

I was even considering getting out this weekend but finals are next week. Blech. I guess I'll be indoors for awhile...

Nice finds, guys! Keep the spirit alive!

Joe

Re: TMAN and GOIO's snowy adventure

McEtrac and I went out and hit a new spot. We were hoping due to its location it hadnt been previously hunted but alas I think it has. We were out for about 2 1/2 hours. I picked up a '51 rosie and 2 wheaties along with some clad and a gold plated ring. Dave took out the monster coil and found less than I did. DAMN that thing is big and heavy. It must add a pound to the rig. You need a bungee buddy. Goio, sorry you couldnt make it but you didnt miss much. SMAN...

Re: TMAN and GOIO's snowy adventure

Any day you find silver is a good day in my book. Congrats SMAN. What's this monster coil that Dave has, a WOT or something?

Re: TMAN and GOIO's snowy adventure

Its an excelerator :dontknow: It is a 15X18 coil. IT is huge and it is heavy. I picked it up and gave it back to him. lol. SMAN...

Holy crap! I wonder how deep that baby goes on a dime, but then again it might not have the target seperation that the pro coil has. Still, definitely a fun coil to have if you were to clear the surface trash of an old area, and then grid it again with the monster coil :)

So much digging to do, so little time!

Re: TMAN and GOIO's snowy adventure

I think it would be a great coil for GOIO park and others like it. I bet it can smoke our pro coils in depth, but how much is still to be determined. SMAN...

Re: TMAN and GOIO's snowy adventure

I just logged in to start a thread on cabin fever figuring that everyone was holed up today. Should have known better :icon_jokercolor:

Glad you guys got out and nobody broke any bones falling out of rv's.

How was the digging in the woods.
Mike

Re: TMAN and GOIO's snowy adventure

Diggin in the woods was fine, ground was soft but you lose a bunch of depth due to leaves and snow cover. The park we hit was frozen in some places up to 3 inches so it was pretty tough. I had to beat a quarter almost to death getting it out of the frozen sod. Once I got it and broke $150.00 for the year McEtrac and I took off. SMAN...

Target Separation ? I dont know ..........I do know it is hard to separate from the Ground ,,LOL
I got tied of swinging it after only 15-20 minuites. I didn't have my pro coil with me,and after I discovered my Exterra 70 batteries were flat..........I decided my only option was to hunt with ny 5" SunRay..................
Went from covering 50 foot in 10 minuites ,,,,to covering 10 feet in 10 minuites LOL
Serves me right for not bringing my Pro Coil.....
I decided to only dig the dime & up signals ,,,since it was as hard as digging in hard dry compacted clay.
Unlike SnowMan,I did not pull a silver....Just a 5/8" Brass nut,3 clad quarters,2 mems ,and a slight back ache LOL.

Today I thought Rootmasters first avatar would have suited Tman better,(at least till spring) LOL
Good to see Snowman reach his goal..................I knew he was getting close, and I had a couple very shallow quarter/& Dime signals........So I invited T-man to come over and try to reach his $ goal by the tree.
I don't think he seen me 30 foot away laughing as he was chiseling away at the frozen ground for his last 50 cents.....LOL Even if they had been silvers........T-man would have earned those last 2 coins......He looked like someone working in a Rock Quarry LOL.........
Congrats on reacing your 2 Goal SnowMan
