Found this after dark. VDI indicated a quarter. When I picked it up I thought that is what it was but it seemed heavy for a quarter. When I got home, I put it beside a quarter and it is wider and then I tried a half dollar and the diameter is just a little smaller. Don't know what I have here. Too toasted to make out any detail. First pic is of it on a half dollar. One can see the rim of the half. 3rd is it beside a quarter.

blowing the pics up, it almost looks like I can make out the eagle and snake found on Mexican coins. I guessing it's a Mexican 50 centavos

Using the JFK half as a guide (diameter 30.6 mm) your coin could be (as 'jewelerguy' mentioned) a 50 centavos piece minted during the years 1964 through 1980 when the MX 50c coin measured 25 mm.
