This was an accidental find by myself around 25 years ago while helping a friend haul in tobacco. Not exactly sure why the bug didn't bite me then...just doing other things at the time I guess. I've always been active with my extracurriculars. Located in central-ish Kentucky.

I’ve found a couple I’m way overdue for another. Think I might of found one the other day but it was missing the bit end. That’s a nice one you found a very different material from what I have found
 

KY is mostly limestone in the central and western part of the state. I doubt if there are any outcrops of diorite there. That rock was probably imported from glaciated areas farther north or found in a river that carried glacial out wash down south.
Diorite was a favorite for celts here in central IL and is a fairly easy to find rock.
