While returning from an old school site after only finding a 1940D Wheat and a 5 cent movie token, I stopped and ask permission about an abandoned house I been meaning to check out for some time. The owner told me that it had been used for farm hands around 1900's to the 1940's. After that it had been used for a few years as a church and told me fine go ahead and look.

The house was in bad shape and grown up very bad and it's going to take some work to remove all the grown. Went inside and looked around and just as I was leaving thought I would look above the door sill and saw this. I thought just being a tobacco tin in pretty good shape was a pretty good find in itself but inside it had the 2 valentines and the 1909 quarter.

Anyone know the age? Looks to be turn of the century (1900) to me.

About $15.00 Ron. Check out the e- site under tobacco tins. :icon_thumright:

Thats a cool find. Congrats.

sweet tin, and the quarter was a nice bonus!

Great Find, Ron

Just think how long that tin has been sitting on that ledge waiting for you to find it.

The Barber quarter is nice but The old Valentines & Tin are nice collectibles, also.

The American Tobacco Company bought out Patterson company in 1905, so I would think the tin dates to before 1905. The Valentines appear to be from Germany which are considered the most collectible valentines and quite old also.

I'd like to see that movie token also.

HH,
Jerry

I love finds like that :icon_thumleft:

Great save... Congrats

The tin appears to be in very good condition. Nice find. The quarter is in very nice condition also.

Congrats.

Great story and to find those still there is amazing to me.

Jerry,

Here is the movie token. This is the second one I have found at the school site. The quarter wasn't found, it is to show the size of the token.
