An ok but not Banner day at 1700s site. Except for the barbed wire, iron stake object, and old nail, I don’t know what any of these things might be. (I posted in What Is It). I could be very wrong, but the small grayish piece could be a fragment of a coin? It has what looks like a triangle or T etched into the edge. The obverse is folded over a bit. Registers 78-80 on Deus - silver range. I tried to magnify it the etching/print. I wouldn't rely too much on the numbers that register on Deus. Looks like a flat piece of lead or pewter.

Nice finds. That looks like a flat piece of pewter.

Dang. Was hoping it was silver - but maybe part of a pewter coin. They did have those in 1700s but I guess I would expect more markings.

Nice!!! Congrats!!!

Interesting piece; pewter? :icon_thumleft:

Yeah I’m guessing - wish there were more markings on it

Well Ill bet there are some coins there a sight that old you never know could be a gold coin there waiting on you.

I hope so - but it was one of those long hunts (4.5 hrs) that felt frustrating, not as many targets as I thought, bug swarms, nettles everywhere in the wooded portion. Not sure if I’m going to go back anytime soon. I’m wondering if the good stuff is either too deep or been picked over already by others.
