Alright fellow THers, today is the day.

I'm taking my new SE out to an old fairgrounds with 2 buddies of mine who are well-versed with their Explorers. They have routinely made some great finds at this place with their machines. And they have made some DEEP DEEP finds there.

The plan is that they are going to tune my machine and help me learn how they are locating these deep coins in certain places. Hopefully, with their help, I'll be able to make a few nice finds today.

I'll let you know how we do today...

But today is the day I find my deepest coin. Hopefully it won't be that hard. My deepest find was a 1876 Seated Dime at 6.5" with my GTI 1500.

Again, I'll let you know how all three of us do today.

 :thumbsup:Also let me know what you thought of the..SE..compared to the..1500..

Alright, I only got a few minutes to post. Gotta run up town and grab some grub to prepare for the start of the Pistons game.

First off, I did end up getting 2 silver coins with the SE. I found both in the first hour I was detecting, then nothing else to speak of after that but a few wheat pennies.

I got a 1942 Mercury Dime at about 5." However, there was a big rusty nail just above, so props to the SE for picking that coin out. The 1920 Mercury I dug next was about 7.5" inches deep, so fair to say that today was the day I found my deepest coin ever. Not too bad considering I have about 12 total hours on the machine. Also found 3 wheats...1937, 1942, & 1951D. They were all about 5-6" deep.

Also managed about 25 other coins, most of which were lincoln pennies. It's gonna take some learning with this new machine, but I'm up for it. Especially after going out there and finding a few coins today.

This detector definately has the capability to find deeper coins than my GTI 1500 (which I used since 2004), but most places I go you can't get that good of penetration. So I'll continue to use both machines.

The two guys that went with me (Jim & Rick) did a lot better than I did. Jim got 5 silver coins. He got an 1892 Barber Dime and a 29 Merc in the same hole. Also got another Merc. Then he got 2 Wash quarters, a 1935 and 1947. He also got over 20 wheat pennies.

Rick managed 3 silvers. 2 merc and a rosie. One merc was 1917, unsure what the other was. Rosie was a 1946. He got 22 wheat pennies.

I'll post a pic tonight or tomorrow morning of my 2 silvers.
