Can you clean the coin with a tooth pick to find a date?

I'm not sure...it looks to be worn thin...I see copper on the edge but maybe I'll give it a try...

The size and I thought it had some similar markings...now I'm curious....maybe an old coin? Any thoughts on cleaning it... electrolysis would probably make it unreadable...

I've got it soaking in distilled water....maybe for 3 days...then I'll try a tooth brush...I started using Andre's pencils but felt I would damage it...
