Today's digs in their unedited glory

As some of you might know, I have been trying my hand at the Fisher 1266-X. And as a couple of you may know, I found a nice flat button with it the other day.

Well, that was a rather lucky find, considering that today I found out what those other signals were around it...

Of course, the Mrs. had to show me up. With the Tiger Shark she found a clad pocket spill. 25 coins in one little spot. While I bumbled around digging junk.

The area is so full of iron and trash that it makes most detectors give up. I turned the disc down to 3 on the Fisher, just to hear what I was up against. It was crazy. I was going to videotape it and put it on youtube, but nah, too much work. There were like 5-10 signals with every sweep of the coil. Most of them disc out around 4 or 5. Junk. There's always the 0.001 percent chance one of them is a gold ring, though.

I think I need to hit this spot with a Compadre.

If you don't like that 1266, you can always give it to me. ;D

Nice finds. Give it some time. I think it will find some great relics. It has for some other members here.

Good Luck

Thanks for the encouragement. I do really like the 1266, I just picked the worst spot to hunt because of all the junk. I wish I had thought to try this machine earlier in the season, when I still had a good solid 4 or 5 months to hunt.

If it weren't getting cold already, I'd probably be outside with a headlamp.

I need to take this detector to a spot where I know there are old, deep coins and relics so I can try digging some of those weak "fly-buzz" signals. I do know a spot where I can dig pulltabs at 10-11" if I want :laughing7:
