It was pretty darn windy today, we had a big storm roll through last last night and when I got up at 5 am to feed the critter it was still drizzling.
The wind was pretty rough today with the winds 20 to 30 mph with higher gust occurring often as the front barnstormed across the state.
It was 40 degrees when I got the field. I had the two tee shirts a long sleeve hoodie and my regular rain gear on. I put a winter hat on AND the hoodie and the rain gear hat up - and I was still cold. I wore my regular leather gloves and my hand were darn cold. Unfortunately I did not have my skiing googles made to fit over my glasses. That was a huge oversight as my eyes continually were watering up making see difficult.
The ground conditions even with the crazy soaker overnight were not bad, very little stickie mud, instead just a nice wet dirt.
I found a few nice broken points. The find of the day was a very well made thumb scraper with amazing flaking on three of the four distinct sides. The rind of the Harrison county nodule making up the tail end of the scraper. Nice mineralization nodules can be seen on all the flake scraper sides and especially on the rind. I found no mineralization nodules to speak up on the bottom or top of the scraper.
In the end, after hunting the area for a about 2 hours, I was getting and staying cold, so decided to call it. I scouted some fields and have my next few hunts scoped out and in the queue.
