Went back to an older permission today. Was a farm mid to late 1800's.

Best find of the day was this item. Not sure what it is, some type of finial?

A spoon, "AVON PLATED SILVER".

Some shotgun headstamps and a 30-06 cartridge.

Some clad.

An iron button and melted lead.

A couple iron pieces.

I'm told it's a garter snake. Although I've never seen one that big before. Yes, the bottom of the first piece is threaded.

Oh yeah, like the finial on the top of some clocks.

I remember old wind up clocks had similar key winds on the back.
Though this one would/could be a finial off the top.
Cool relic.

Congratulations on your finds, including the snake. I also remember the winder on the back of the old clocks that looked very much like the one you found. I can’t be positive, but that is what it looks like to me. Also your snake is a garter snake. I have seen them as large as 3 feet long.
