Found this celt today, they started to drill it for some unknown reason. It measures 4 1/2" x 1 3/4". The blade measures 1 1/2" x 3 1/4"

I live in North AL too. If you ever want to go digging, I know a few good places.

That's not a celt, it's a bannerstone preform. They started drilling it with hollow reed and didn't finish it. It's a much better find than a celt! It's not every day that you'll find a bannerstone, very nice!

Matt

Morning,

Right on the money there Matt. Definately a bannerstone preform. I have never actually seen on in that good of shape. I have a gorget preform...without the holes. That is definataly a prize and gives insight on how they went about drilling such pieces. Looks like you have a really nice site Das.

Happy Hunting,

Atlantis

OK atlatl , Thats what we call em round here. Believe it or not the past 2 months I have been anticipating the fall droping of the river, and wondering why in all my years I have yet to find an atlatl weight. Ok I'll take this one. The problem right now is that the river dropped too fast and it left mud and silt covering everything. Cant wait till it rains. I new Monday that it had dropped fast as the snails were leaving their tracks, trying to get back to the water. Hope to go tommorow and do some MDing. Thanks all.

WOW...Very strange and nice!
