Fighting the CRUD, rainy and cold weather, work and short days of winter, KyDigNQueen and I finally got to get out for a short hunt today at the site of a old spring that has been a gathering spot for 150 yrs. While not a very productive hunt, I did find a old button that I think is a Tombac, but not for sure. It is slightly smaller ths a quarter. I would appreciate any and all feed back, age etc. I'm hoping it is as it will be my first. 20170122_142956.webp

I don't think it's a tombac, nice find though

It's a brass button, nice find! is there any writing on the back?

It is a nice button.

That's a late 18th century pattern on the front, which is great, but not a tombac.

Thanks all. I did post in the WHAT IS IT forum and TheCannonballGuy id'd it as a brass 1 piece button from the late 1700's into the early 1800. It is brass, with a brass eye, set in brass. It has a mold seam that runs across the back. There is no writing on the back. I've never found a item that old metal detecting and have a hard time believing it could be that old! Even though it is not a Tombac I'm very happy with the find and not at all disappointed!

So an area you want to return to & listen for the deep whispers.
