Found some November silver. I went up North today for work and was on a tight schedule. I was only able to stop at one bank and one gas station. I bought $12 in loose halves and 4 CWR and 4 MWR. The loose produced the 2004S proof and one of the MWR gave up the 40%. Interestingly, it was in a roll of mostly 1996-p coins including the two struck through grease, which I kept. I found some with the die crack on the neck too but I let them go. I tried to sell some a few years ago but they didn't bring much premium.

The quarter came from laundry machine money at one of our senior properties. The coins are put into a fund for all the residents and the manager culls any silver. I bought this quarter for $5 which went to the resident fund.

I have more laundry quarters to count tomorrow so I may have some more silver quarters to report tomorrow!

Pics coming...

Interesting to see what will turn up in the laundry fund! keep us posted

::bangs head on table:: man, I am so jealous. I need to start to look in halves again. I am getting skunked on dimes. Or better yet, maybe I will start to do nickels. I know war nickels are only 35% silver but at least its some silver. and you get to look for buffs and V's.

Congrats on the finds!!

Hugs and Smiles,
Garoulady

I almost didn't get the rolls. I bought the loose coins from one teller and then had to wait like 15 minutes for the vault teller to finish for what I was told was 2 more rolls in the vault. She ended up bringing the 8 rolls and then asked me the dreaded question - do you have an account? I tried to work the business relationship because our property account is held there and I thought she was going to balk but ended up caving with "I just want to get rid of them so here you go"

yeah, there are a lot of banks and CUs up here that ask me that question constantly. On the cool side if you come up again to Traverse City again, check out Coins and Collectibles Jewelers in the Cherryland center. That's where I got 2 ASEs for 34.50 each. Just to let ya know if anyones interested. I don't mind telling folks about a place like this. I certainly can't buy all the coins, LOL, though I wish!

But at least you found a quarter. I haven't found one in a roll yet. It's always been via coinstar finds.

Sincerely, Garoulady

No more silver in the remaining laundry money, lots of Canadian though and a 1 franc coin.

I like C & C collectables too. I took some stuff I found metal detecting there and they looked it over. Unfortunately one ring I hoped was 14K was 14K gold plate and the diamond was glass. Also bought some silver rounds from them for only $2 over spot

Local Coins, I was just curious. You talk about going through laundry coins alot and I was wondering. Do you own the coin operated laundries or have you worked a deal out with the owner in order for you to go through all the coinage before depositing it? Either way, coolness! That's a sweet way to go through coinage, like being a cashier without dealing with the customers.

Hugs and Silver for everyone,
Garoulady

I work for a property management company and part of our service includes administering the coin-op laundry at properties that have it.

Having said that, another co-worker and I are getting ready to get our own laundry company going.

1920 and before are silver. It's unlikely, but check the date. Probably is post-1959, which means it is 100% nickel.

It was from the 70's, good to know though!

Sweet! good luck and thank you for answering my question.

Smiles and silver for everyone,

What I didn't mention was that there was also a aluminum-bronze 1 franc minted in 1920, but I assumed you would know it's aluminum-bronze and not silver. The Al-bronze one happens to be a rarer date worth a few dollars.
