Heres another picture. File size was too big to include more than one pic in the original post.

I have to figure out how to shrink the file size on these pictures. That way I wont have to add on to my original posts. Anyway, I saw a bald Eagle flying around in the valley and tried to get a picture of it. My photography skills need some work and the eagle didn't come too close. This is the best picture I could get of it. It is in the upper right portion of the picture just above the tree line.

Nice pics. In the second picture is the ground some sort of shale or is it something manmade?....I can't tell

It's not man made. It's just a large area of flat exposed rock that people have been carving their names in since the mid 1800's. Here's a good picture of one of the carvings that dates back to 1863.

Hey packerbacker. Here's a picture of that same rock from below. Keep walking up the trail here to the left of the picture and you'll be standing on top of it.

Nice photos and that is some old graffiti. AA

Some great pictures, the first one is my favorite. Those carvings actually look raised in the picture? Did you bring the detector?

I did not bring the detector today. I have actually hunted here before. I found a few nice things. This area has been in use all the way back to the early to mid 1700's. Last time I was here I found a no date/no detail copper disc (probably colonial), a revolutionary war flat button, and a ring. I'll probably bring the detector next time. Today I just felt like going for a hike. The carvings are not raised. They are chiseled into the rock. Next time I go up I might bring a hammer and chisel and leave my mark.

Here's the ring and smooth copper I found on my last hunt here. The ring is not silver. Maybe silver plated.

I think it would be a shame if you didn't carve your name into those rocks, keep the history flowing. That is an awesome hunting ground, keep up the great work. Make sure you get a picture with your mark on history for us!

Beautiful pics. Seems the eagle is getting into a glide to the right. Loved those stone carvings...really neat.

;) RR

Gorgeous pictures, Evo. 8)

What town is that in?

That's some pretty country in those photos...thanks for sharing them with us.

Thanks for sharing,

Nice photos, thanks for posting. I grew up in Washington county N.Y. I now live in the flatlands of Ohio and miss seeing the mountains.
