Tool or Explosive

Hi Guys, found this thing earlier this week. I have no clue what it is so maybe someone of you can help? The Top is pretty heavy and it was found on farmland so it could very well be a farming tool. The site was WW2 Battlefield as well so i wouldnt be surprised if its some explosive Tip of something either. I left the whole thing on the field to make sure its nothing dangerous. bye GA

Kinda looks like a drill bit, old brace and bit type .

Looks like an auger bit for making mortises for chair spindles, etc.
