Found this at an 1870's farm site, was sticking up out of ground, thought it was an allen wrench at first. Dug it out, its hollow and made of copper? Lot of decorative script on all sides. Thank you for any information on it. Great to be digging again.

It looks like a fancy jeweler's, or tack hammer head. Is the handle stub made of metal?
Yes its the same metal as item. Thanks for the information.

If it's hollow I doubt it was ever used as a hammer.
On the one end shown I don't see any evidence of it being used as a hammer.
Made of copper and very ornate. Piece coming off of it looks hollow also.
Looks to be for ornamental use.
Maybe a decorative pot handle etc.

Is it hollow all the way through? I can’t tell. If so my mind goes to a ramrod thimble… if solid on one end I don’t know

Walking stick handle or topper? Walking sticks differ from functional canes as they are an accessory rather than a walking support.

First thing it reminds me of is a grinding wheel cleaner with the handle damaged and missing.
