Top of lower shaft broken?

Hi guys, I'm a former Equinox owner, plus stacks of machines b4 that, so I'm no newb, but to me, the top of the lower shaft looks, ermmm, not well manufactured/broken?

I noticed It before I even put it Into the top shaft....gutted.

Only had it from Amazon 2 days ago, so can anyone confirm It's definitely not supposed to be like that?

Can you get a bigger image, more of the detector shaft. I got a brand new Xterra pro & I am lost on your picture. I guess I cant tell where I need to look on mine to tell you. Thanks Here is a pic of mine, this is the very top of the lower shaft. It is kinda square/splined so the lower shaft doesn't rotate.
